Unlike the previous model Sedona, you can remove the 2nd row seating to allow things like 4×8 sheets of plywood, or you can fold the front passenger seat back and fit 2 10-foot kayaks on the right side and a third one beside them. In addition, there is a larger model that seats. Active Noise Cancellation will also be available in the Kia.

  4. Interesting review, Charlie. In fact, it's the only direct comparison of a minivan vs an SUV I've seen anywhere. Here in the US the minivan market, such as it is, is dominated by the Chrysler Pacifica, Toyota Sienna, and Honda Odyssey with the Sedona trailing far behind as an "also ran." KIA hopes the new Sedona can improve that picture with styling that's more "SUV-like." Frankly, I'm skeptical especially since both the Pacifica and Sienna each offer both AWD and hybrid versions while KIA sticks with FWD and a non-hybrid versions. (A diesel version isn't offered by any automaker in the US.)

    In some ways the minivan marketplace in the US is a rather sad story. In 2020 the entire segment accounted for about 272,000 vehicles sold, the worst year since 1986. They amounted to 1.9% of all vehicles sold in the US, a minuscule market share that's even less than pure EVs. The reason? Rather surprisingly it appears to be the result of women opting for crossovers over minivans. Apparently many women (including my wife) resent the image of minivans as being "soccer moms'" vehicles of choice and find the apparent "ruggedness" and elevated seating of SUVs to have a major appeal. The result is that market research indicates that males appreciate the interior space of minivans while females have largely deserted the vehicles.

  5. The Palisade is Nice but i got to give it to the Sedona for exterior design.. at the back i think the Palisade is abit more impressive.. The Odyssey first came out it had 4 doors for a mini van and the Mitsubishi RVR for a CUV had sliding doors.. i loved the gen 2 especially the rally art version with the 4G63T engine it was wild 😁 so i think it's more of the overall structure and proportions that makes a mini van, MPV vs SUV
